The body comes from a world of performance, technology, clothes, a restriction of what it can feel like to be a woman, a person. The body then comes to find serenity, an escape into a world that doesn't fall into rules and regulations. We fall into the burrows of the natural world. Find our bare feet pattering across the trunks in a childlike manner, accept the scratches of our soft flesh for it is all apart of the experience of being with the world.
We continue this series of bold works with Shuyu. Into the Dandenong Ranges, we find a space in between the dry branches and moss covered floors and found that we fit perfectly into the landscape. What we capture is beautiful, animalistic, a woman finding movement aligned back with the natural world.
Captured by @yeyudream. Thank you for the woman you are, how you capture other women, and the passion you have for nude photography. Shuyu's series of personal works and collaboration pays homage to the body in the most beautiful way, and I couldn't be more excited getting to be a part of her world.
Everytime I come out to nature, I am in awe of the way trees fall naturally across the overgrown grass. How staring at branches, you can follow the outsretched lines interact across each other. The earth makes a natural bed with the softnes of the dirt, the lushness of the floor, the fallen leaves that make the air come to life when they crackle under bare feet and release their rich and fresh perfume. As I close my eyes, breathe, figure out what to do in front of the camera, it doesn't take long before my arms begin to outstretch themselves and mimic the lines of the world around me. Perch myself on the edge, like I had seen the birds do as they flitter around us. Every nook and cranny we found ourselves in, I imagine what creatures would do if they found themselves in that space.
Tender and primal.
Swaying with the reeds, the trees. Finding myself aligned with the natural world.
Burrowed into the nooks of the earth. Like a deer, a rabbit, a creature that combines all of them togethor, primal and animalistic, finding rest and solace in the arms of the earth.
Being in this place blooms a part of me that specifically unlocks when I have flowers in my hair, stumble and prick myself as I climb branches.
A primal stance.
